Irony

Now, here’s the irony of Things:

From where I have expected courage and loyalty, I found a lack of.

From where I have expected a fleeting acquaintance, I found a truckload of faith and fierce comradeship.

I am a little abashed. Surely, I am not deserving. But I can’t help feeling so very, very grateful.

If anything is divine, this is.

(And nothing is fair. But some things soothe our frantic hearts more than others. Sometimes, much more.)

***

It is a cycle.

We rest our faith in God, then we rest our faith in Man. Then God, then Man. Over and over.

Because one is the other.

You do know that, right?

You have to.
